Karnataka Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar and caretaker CM Siddaramaiah traveled to New Delhi to discuss the formation of the new state cabinet with the Congress high command. They were joined by senior Congress leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. The initial list of ministers has been finalized after consultations between key leaders.
Siddaramaiah’s camp is expected to have a significant representation in the first phase of cabinet expansion. The proposed social composition of the initial batch includes leaders from various communities to ensure diverse representation. The swearing-in ceremony for the first set of ministers is scheduled for June 3.
The Congress leadership is contemplating a two-phase cabinet expansion strategy. The final list of ministers is subject to approval by the central leadership in New Delhi. Siddaramaiah is advocating for the appointment of multiple Deputy Chief Ministers to ensure inclusive governance. Despite an offer of a Rajya Sabha seat to his wife, Parvathi, Siddaramaiah has reportedly declined to enter national politics.
