Expressing satisfaction over Karnataka’s 9% growth in GST collection, the Chief Minister challenged officials to aim for the top spot nationally. He emphasized the importance of timely tax return filings, setting and achieving tax collection targets, and leveraging technology for comprehensive taxpayer analysis. Shivakumar commended the state’s progress in GST collection and urged officials to maintain integrity and diligence in tax enforcement efforts.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s success in detecting GST fraud through collaboration with IIT Hyderabad. He stressed the need to address challenges posed by fake invoices and fake Input Tax Credit, emphasizing increased legal actions against offenders. Shivakumar also lauded the implementation of a citizen-friendly tax system for resolving taxpayer queries efficiently online.
Addressing performance issues in the Mysuru division, Shivakumar emphasized the importance of delivering results and promptly handling pending appeals. He called for simplifying the system to enhance taxpayer-friendliness and urged senior officials to monitor appeal disposals closely. The Chief Minister underscored the significance of maintaining high performance standards across all tax-related operations.
