Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed solidarity with student demonstrations regarding the alleged NEET question paper leak, emphasizing that this issue is beyond politics and impacts the future of the country’s youth.
Shivakumar, speaking in Bengaluru, highlighted the critical situation in India where students are facing uncertainty due to multiple instances of exam paper leaks. He suggested that the Prime Minister’s response came late and should have been addressed earlier.
Stressing the non-politicization of the matter, the Chief Minister praised Indian students for their global recognition and emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure fair exams and quality education.
In response to calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Shivakumar asserted that no one should be shielded, and accountability is essential. He supported students’ right to peaceful protests and criticized alleged police actions against them.
Shivakumar also questioned the media’s coverage of student protests and police actions, pointing out the lack of attention given to these events. Regarding the recent attack on a Karnataka BJP MLA, he condemned the incident but urged a broader perspective on such occurrences.
