Karnataka Chief Minister-designate and State Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, extended best wishes to students as they start the new academic year. Noting the presence of prestigious institutions like IISc, NLSIU, ISRO, and HAL in Karnataka, he encouraged students to uphold their legacy. Shivakumar avoided commenting on the hijab-saffron shawl controversy when questioned by reporters.

Focusing on school reopenings, Shivakumar greeted students and encouraged them to seize the opportunities ahead. Emphasizing Karnataka’s role in education and human resource development, he highlighted the state’s history of producing accomplished professionals who have excelled globally.

Shivakumar stressed the importance of students continuing Karnataka’s educational legacy, especially in the evolving era of technology and innovation. He assured support for students, including those from rural areas, urging them not to feel inferior and emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities statewide.

Before departing for New Delhi with senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar refrained from discussing further political matters.
