Amid ongoing speculation over the Karnataka Congress leadership and cabinet reshuffle, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is reportedly summoned to New Delhi by the party high command. Sources indicate that Siddaramaiah has been asked to visit Delhi on May 26, with the meeting officially linked to discussions on the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Political circles suggest that topics like cabinet reshuffle, power-sharing arrangements, and candidate selection for Legislative Council elections might be discussed.
The Congress high command had previously signaled a shift in focus towards Karnataka post the government formation in Kerala. With increasing talks about cabinet expansion and potential leadership changes in the state, this recent development has sparked fresh political discussions within the Karnataka Congress. Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, however, expressed unawareness of reports regarding Siddaramaiah being summoned to Delhi.
Responding to queries near his Bengaluru residence, Shivakumar stated his lack of information on the matter, including whether the Chief Minister’s summon was related to the Rajya Sabha elections or a leadership alteration. The reported Delhi meeting has heightened speculation within the ruling Congress concerning internal power dynamics and the anticipated cabinet reshuffle. Allegations have also surfaced, with the Karnataka BJP In-charge accusing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge of attempting to sow discord between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for personal gain.
