The Karnataka Congress has scheduled a significant meeting on Sunday evening to address concerns related to the SIR process. Led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and senior AICC leader Randeep Surjewala, the meeting will convene at a private resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru at 4 p.m. Various senior leaders, office-bearers, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and candidates from past elections are expected to participate.
The focus of the meeting will be on analyzing the ongoing SIR process and its potential political and electoral implications. The party aims to formulate a strategic response while ensuring coordination between grassroots workers and senior leaders. Rather than outright opposition, the Congress is likely to take a cautious approach by engaging in the process while closely monitoring developments.
Party sources suggest that the meeting aims to educate party members and provide clear directives for future actions. Congress leaders emphasize the importance of safeguarding citizens’ voting rights and highlight the crucial role of BLA1 and BLA2 members in the process. Special attention will be given to strengthening these members at the booth level to oversee voter-related procedures effectively.
As part of its strategy, the Congress plans to establish SIR camps at each polling booth and supervise the process until its completion. BLA2 members, in collaboration with government-appointed BLOs, will conduct door-to-door visits to verify voters personally. Party workers have been tasked with raising awareness among the public and party cadre about the process and their responsibilities.
Later in the evening, CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM Shivakumar, and other senior Congress leaders are expected to provide key directions and organizational guidelines. The SIR process is slated to commence in Karnataka in June.
