The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to the state government following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) requesting the release of pending payments under the Gruhalakshmi scheme. The PIL, filed by Bengaluru residents, highlighted that beneficiaries had not received payments for several months under the scheme. The petitioners urged the High Court to direct the immediate release of all pending instalments under the scheme.
The petitioners’ counsel argued that despite budget allocations, beneficiaries had not received any payments under the Gruhalakshmi scheme from February 2025 to May 2026. The issue, affecting numerous eligible beneficiaries in Karnataka, raised concerns about the effective implementation of the scheme. The petitioners also requested the state government to release all pending arrears to beneficiaries in a single instalment.
Taking a serious view of the matter, the division bench of the High Court sought an explanation from the state government regarding the delay in disbursing benefits under the Gruhalakshmi scheme. The concerned departments were directed to clarify their position on the issue, with further hearings scheduled on the matter.
