Karnataka Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, commended the Karnataka Police for establishing peace and harmony in the state, earning recognition as one of the top police systems in the country. Speaking at the Police Flag Day celebrations in Bengaluru, he highlighted the importance of the day, which marks the enforcement of the Police Act in 1965, unifying and disciplining the state police force.
Parameshwara acknowledged the relentless efforts of the police in upholding law and order, citing the India Justice Report that ranks Karnataka first in providing justice to citizens. He also lauded Kavital Police Station in Raichur district for being recognized as the third-best police station nationally, expressing hope for similar standards across all stations in the state.
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating the drug network in Karnataka, aligning with the vision of a drug-free state. He underscored the significance of tackling cybercrime, noting Karnataka’s pioneering establishment of a Cyber Command Unit to combat cyber offenses effectively.
Highlighting the state’s proactive approach to national security, Parameshwara mentioned Karnataka’s early achievement of being Naxal-free through the Anti-Naxal Force. He stressed the importance of continuous training to address modern challenges and enhance policing efficiency at all levels.
In a bid to modernize police operations, the minister announced plans for updated transfer and recruitment methods within the department. With provisions for recruiting Constables and PSI posts, along with the establishment of a permanent Police Recruitment Board, the government aims to introduce further reforms in the police department soon.
