Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge expressed concern over the dismissive attitude of US officials towards India, attributing it to the foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He highlighted instances where US leaders made derogatory comments about India, causing embarrassment on the global stage. Kharge criticized the lack of response from Indian leaders to such remarks, emphasizing the need for a stronger stance on international matters.
Kharge also referenced a statement by US President Donald Trump, suggesting the potential to influence Modi’s political future, which went unanswered by the Indian Prime Minister. Questioning Modi’s silence, Kharge raised concerns about the government’s approach to foreign policy issues. He compared Modi’s response to that of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who had previously objected to US interventions in the Middle East.
Furthermore, Kharge criticized BJP leaders, including Modi, for their priorities, noting their focus on non-political events rather than addressing critical foreign policy concerns. He called for accountability from Union Ministers regarding the recent hike in domestic LPG cylinder prices and urged clarity on the decision-making process behind such actions. Kharge also assured a prompt resolution to pending issues, such as the recruitment of bill collectors and data operators under gram panchayats.
