Karnataka Public Works Department Minister, Satish Jarkiholi, mentioned that the decision to create more Deputy Chief Minister roles lies with the Congress high command. This move could possibly enhance the party’s organization. Jarkiholi, a close aide of former CM Siddaramaiah, is a key contender for the Deputy CM position.

The Congress high command is contemplating the establishment of two additional Deputy Chief Minister positions. Currently, G. Parameshwara holds the Deputy CM post along with the Revenue and Sports portfolios. Minister Jarkiholi disclosed that discussions on Cabinet expansion are in the final stages and hinted at a potential implementation by the upcoming Sunday or Monday.

Jarkiholi emphasized that the high command needs to decide on the formation of more Deputy Chief Minister posts. He believes that such appointments could strengthen the party organization. The ongoing visit of Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal and other senior leaders to Karnataka primarily focuses on organizational matters, with possible discussions on Cabinet expansion.

Responding to his daughter’s statement that he might become Chief Minister in 2028, Jarkiholi stated that it is premature to speculate. He stressed the importance of fulfilling current responsibilities before considering future roles. The much-anticipated Cabinet expansion in Karnataka might occur on Sunday or Monday, delayed due to increased political activities in Delhi.

Jarkiholi welcomed Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s proposal for talks with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on the Cauvery water-sharing issue. He highlighted the benefits of dialogue over prolonged litigation, suggesting that both sides engage in constructive discussions. Additionally, Jarkiholi addressed the NEET irregularities protests, emphasizing the need to rectify any examination process flaws.
