Karnataka’s Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, has accused the Congress government of being involved in a conspiracy against the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala pilgrimage center. Ashoka claimed that attempts to tarnish the reputation of the religious institution had failed. He alleged that left-leaning groups, supported by the Congress, orchestrated a campaign to defame the temple town.
Ashoka criticized former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly promoting false allegations against the institution instead of upholding the truth. He mentioned that the BJP had organized a protest campaign called “Dharmasthala Chalo” to oppose what they viewed as anti-Sanatana policies. Ashoka demanded a public apology from the Congress government for allegedly trying to damage Dharmasthala’s reputation.
The Karnataka BJP President, B.Y. Vijayendra, also accused a conspiracy to tarnish the Dharmasthala Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple’s reputation. State BJP General Secretary V. Sunil Kumar urged the government to release the report of the Special Investigation Team probing the Dharmasthala case. In a surprising turn, the complainant in the case, Chinnayya, claimed he was part of a conspiracy to defame Dharmasthala.
