The Karnataka Police are handling an alleged “love jihad” case in Hubballi with caution due to serious allegations from both sides. Three cases have been filed by the families involved. Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar stated that the young woman accused the man of rape, and investigations are ongoing into all aspects of the incident.
The complaint lodged by the young woman and her mother includes allegations of sexual assault, coercion, and video recording. Police are also looking into claims that the accused youth’s sister and others were involved in encouraging the assault. Commissioner Shashikumar assured that all allegations are being examined, and appropriate action will be taken based on the established facts.
Accused Sameer Mulla contends that the young woman herself recorded a private video on her phone. However, the woman alleges that she was invited by Sameer’s sister to a gym, where she was drugged and sexually assaulted. She further claims that the accused coerced her into recording videos and blackmailing her. The case has gained attention on social media, causing tension in the city.
The situation in Hubballi escalated following allegations of “love jihad” involving a Muslim youth and a Hindu girl. This led to clashes between Hindu organizations and the youth’s family, with protests demanding strict action against the accused. The police reported that Sameer, a gym trainer, was seen with the girl, sparking the allegations of “love jihad” by Hindu groups.
