The Karnataka Police department has initiated an investigation into a Constable’s WhatsApp status where he expressed dissatisfaction with police duty. The Constable, identified as Bramhanand, criticized the police department’s operations in his social media posts. His remarks were in response to a statement made by the Director General and Inspector General of Police regarding police recruitment.
Constable Bramhanand’s posts, suggesting that selling egg rice is preferable to police duty, have sparked conversations within the police force. Following the viral nature of the messages, an inquiry has been launched by Koppal District Superintendent of Police Ram L. Arasiddi against the Constable. Further scrutiny is ongoing, with actions to be determined based on the inquiry’s findings.
In a separate incident, it was recalled that a Constable had fatally shot a Sub-Inspector in 2013 after being denied leave. Additionally, a Sub-Inspector in Bengaluru Rural district was suspended in 2018 for publicly abusing a senior officer over a vehicle permit issue. Both incidents highlight tensions within the police force and the importance of proper conduct and conflict resolution procedures.
