Bengaluru, Aug 17 (IANS) The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka has reached a crucial phase, with house‑to‑house enumeration underway and the deadline for submitting Enumeration Forms (EFs) ending on Monday.
The latest data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, shows that the entire enumeration exercise has been digitised, with nearly 1.08 crore electors marked under the ASDDO category.
According to the CEO’s daily press release, Karnataka had 5,54,32,314 electors in the electoral roll as of June 16, 2026. The enumeration process was conducted from June 30 to August 17.
While all 5,54,32,314 Enumeration Forms were printed and distributed to Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the data shows that 4,46,00,369 EFs, or 80.46 per cent, have been digitised. Another 1,08,31,945 electors, accounting for 19.54 per cent of the total, have been marked as ASDDO.
ASDDO refers to electors identified as Already Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Others during the verification process.
Of the total ASDDO‑marked electors, 65,61,607 (11.84 per cent) have been classified as permanently shifted, 16,38,839 (2.96 per cent) as deceased, 15,28,985 (2.76 per cent) as untraceable or absent, 7,07,792 (1.28 per cent) as already enrolled elsewhere, and 3,94,722 (0.71 per cent) under the “Others” category.
Permanently shifted electors constitute the largest component of the ASDDO category.
The CEO’s office stressed that electors wrongly marked under ASDDO can seek a rollback of the status. The ASDDO list has been provided to political parties and is also available with BLOs for verification.
Electors who believe they have been incorrectly marked can approach the BLO or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) until August 17. The list of ASDDO electors identified during SIR 2026 is also available on the CEO’s website.
The data further shows that 7,11,712 Enumeration Forms, or 1.28 per cent, were submitted online by electors.
With the house‑to‑house enumeration phase ending, electoral authorities will now move into the next stages of the SIR process, including publication of the draft electoral roll and the subsequent claims and objections process.
Civil society organisations on Monday urged Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to intervene in the ongoing SIR, alleging the process could unfairly remove eligible voters from the list.
A delegation led by actor Prakash Raj met the Chief Minister at Vidhana Soudha and submitted a memorandum, claiming Karnataka was witnessing one of the highest levels of voter deletions in the country.
