Around 250 stakeholders, including representatives from 20 states, are set to participate in the Kashmir Travel Mart-2026 hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir government on April 14-15. The event aims to highlight Kashmir’s tourism potential through various activities like craft safaris, curated tours, and business engagements, offering a glimpse into the region’s culture and heritage.
Following a terror attack in 2025 that initially impacted tourism in Kashmir, the government’s efforts, along with local resilience, led to a swift recovery in tourist numbers. In 2025, over 1.77 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir, indicating sustained growth in the sector, with more than 36,000 foreign visitors.
The Jammu and Kashmir government, encouraged by the positive response, anticipates a higher influx of tourists this year. The government is actively working to enhance infrastructure, transportation, and overall travel facilities to attract more visitors to the region.
