The Kerala Assembly faced a tense situation as former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused power brokers of influencing employee transfers after a government change. The Opposition’s motion for discussion on alleged revenge transfers was denied by the Speaker, leading to their walkout. Allegations surfaced that transfers were made without proper criteria, affecting over 2,000 employees across various departments.
State Minister Sunny Joseph defended the transfers, stating they were routine administrative procedures following established norms. He clarified that the transfers were not politically driven but were a result of retirements and natural vacancies in May. The Minister assured that any genuine complaints regarding transfers would be addressed sympathetically.
Pinarayi Vijayan criticized ruling front-affiliated organization members for influencing transfer decisions even before the new government took office. He raised concerns about the targeting of specific employee groups and demanded disciplinary actions for illegal transfers. Vijayan warned against the involvement of power brokers in administrative decisions, highlighting potential corruption risks.
