Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, criticized his ex-party member, G. Sudhakaran, for opportunistic behavior by running as an Independent candidate in Ambalapuzha. Vijayan expressed his disapproval during a media address in Haripad, stating that Sudhakaran was adopting Congress ideologies to gain support.
Sudhakaran, a former CPI(M) MLA and State Minister, faced expulsion from the party after deciding to contest independently. Vijayan emphasized that Sudhakaran’s departure would not affect the party’s electoral performance, highlighting the loyalty of party workers over individual interests.
Vijayan dismissed Sudhakaran’s assertion of attracting CPI(M) votes and accused him of aligning with Congress and BJP interests. The Chief Minister portrayed Sudhakaran’s move as a premeditated decision rather than a sudden shift, adding complexity to the electoral dynamics in Ambalapuzha.
