With Kerala gearing up for the Assembly elections on April 9, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared his government’s achievements, emphasizing governance and service delivery as key aspects of the Left Democratic Front’s election campaign. Vijayan stated that nearly 97% of the 900 promises outlined in the party’s manifesto have been fulfilled, underscoring the government’s accountability to the electorate. The Chief Minister highlighted significant accomplishments in housing, welfare, and women’s empowerment, showcasing the administration’s commitment to addressing critical social issues.
Under the LIFE Mission initiative, the completion of five lakh houses has provided much-needed shelter to numerous individuals, while granting land titles to 4.5 lakh families has resolved longstanding concerns of landless households. Vijayan also emphasized the empowerment of women, with more than 16 lakh women benefiting from financial aid through various government schemes. Furthermore, efforts to enhance Kerala’s investment climate and streamline administrative procedures have been prioritized to attract more industries to the state.
In a move to demonstrate efficiency, Vijayan mentioned that 82 lakh applications were processed within stipulated timelines. The government’s focus on job creation was highlighted, with over 3.13 lakh appointments facilitated through the Public Service Commission and an additional 2.66 lakh employment opportunities generated across different sectors. The release of the progress report just before the elections holds significance as the Left Democratic Front aims for a third consecutive term in power, relying on its governance track record and welfare programs to counter opposition criticisms.
As the election campaign reaches its final stages, CM Vijayan’s performance-oriented approach signifies a strategic effort to translate administrative accomplishments into electoral support. The outcome of this narrative-driven campaign will be revealed on April 9, when Kerala votes in a closely watched political battle.
