The Kerala High Court has dismissed the criminal case against businessman Boby Chemmanur, filed by a Malayalam actress for sexual harassment. The court accepted Chemmanur’s plea to end the proceedings, noting that the dispute had been resolved amicably. This decision follows the actress confirming the settlement through an affidavit, leading to the formal closure of the case.
Chemmanur had publicly apologized to the actress for his behavior and urged her to withdraw the complaint, which facilitated the resolution. The allegations stemmed from an incident at a Chemmannur International Jewellers event in Kannur, where the actress claimed she was harassed. The case involved accusations of sexual harassment and the transmission of obscene material online, resulting in Chemmanur’s arrest and subsequent bail.
The High Court’s intervention came after the complainant informed the court of the settlement, prompting a halt in the legal proceedings. The prosecution’s verification of the settlement affidavit paved the way for the court to officially terminate the criminal case against Chemmanur.
