Kerala’s Leader of Opposition, V. D. Satheesan, criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accusing him of changing stances for political gains and promoting communalism. Satheesan claimed that Vijayan had shifted between appeasing minority and majority groups based on electoral situations, even taking conflicting stands on sensitive matters.
During a media interaction in Kattakkada suburbs amid the election campaign, Satheesan accused the Chief Minister of deceiving the public regarding alleged ties with Jamaat-e-Islami. He highlighted discrepancies between Vijayan’s past statements and documented evidence, including party publications, to support his claims.
Satheesan also raised concerns about the government’s handling of issues related to CPI-M workers and criticized what he termed as biased enforcement practices at the national level. He alleged a covert understanding between the BJP and CPI-M in various constituencies to undermine the Congress-led UDF.
Expressing confidence in UDF’s success in key constituencies like Malampuzha and Kongad, Satheesan defended his involvement in public debates, emphasizing the importance of engaging across political platforms. The escalating political rhetoric comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections on April 9, where 140 legislators will be elected.
