As Kerala’s Assembly elections progress, voters are keen on sustained development and political stability, with unemployment emerging as a significant concern. Many voters highlighted the need for more job opportunities within the state to address the pressing issue of unemployment. Despite acknowledging developmental progress, voters stressed the importance of job creation for the state’s residents.
Some voters expressed contentment with the visible development in Kerala over the past decade. They noted a positive transformation in the state, emphasizing the improvements that have brought happiness to the populace. Additionally, the voters emphasized the necessity of a stable government, preferring continuity over frequent leadership changes for effective policy implementation and sustained progress.
The polling process in Kerala commenced after intense campaigning, with around 2.71 crore voters participating to determine the state’s governance. The day started early with polling booths becoming active by 5.30 a.m., witnessing a significant voter turnout across the state. The civic engagement was evident, with long queues forming, showcasing the deep-rooted commitment of Kerala’s electorate towards the democratic process.
The voting, spanning all 140 constituencies, began at 7 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m., signifying a crucial moment in the state’s political landscape. Notably, close to two lakh voters have already cast their votes through home voting, reflecting the diverse mechanisms employed to ensure inclusive participation.
