In Daman and Diu, the ongoing Khelo India Beach Games have opened doors for numerous talented youngsters nationwide to showcase their skills on a significant platform. Umabati Patra, a gold medalist in Pencak Silat at the Games, expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling such opportunities for athletes like her. She credited the Sports Department of Odisha for their support in training and providing necessary facilities for the competition.
The athletes’ hard work and dedication leading up to the Games have paid off, with Umabati Patra acknowledging her coach, Prem Singh Thapa, and the state association for their contributions to her success. Shreya, a bronze medalist at the Khelo India Beach Games, also emphasized the importance of this platform, likening it to an international event and expressing gratitude for the opportunity it presents to athletes.
The Khelo India Beach Games 2026, organized by the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, are being conducted under the technical supervision of the Sports Authority of India and national sports federations. With over 1100 participants competing in sports like volleyball, soccer, sepaktakraw, and more, the event offers a platform for young athletes to compete and excel, with 32 gold medals at stake.
