Angkrish Raghuvanshi of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) became the fourth batter in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 history to be dismissed for obstructing the field during a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The incident took place on the final ball of the fifth over when Raghuvanshi, batting on nine off seven deliveries, altered his running path while attempting to return to the crease, resulting in an intentional interference with the throw.
Raghuvanshi’s actions led to an immediate appeal by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and his teammates, which was upheld after review by the third umpire. Despite Raghuvanshi’s visible frustration and arguments with the on-field umpires, the decision stood. The rare dismissal left the KKR camp upset, with the team members expressing their discontent over the controversial call.
Joining a short list of players who faced a similar fate in the IPL, Raghuvanshi followed the likes of Yusuf Pathan, Amit Mishra, and Ravindra Jadeja, who were previously dismissed for obstructing the field in past editions of the tournament.
