Kolkata Knight Riders have secured Blessing Muzarabani for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026. The 6 ft 8” right-arm quick from Zimbabwe is known for his steep bounce and knack for taking crucial wickets. Muzarabani, with a T20 track record of over 90 wickets in 80 matches at an average of around 21, is set to bolster KKR’s pace attack.
He is expected to land in Kolkata on March 17, bringing with him a wealth of experience from various global leagues and international cricket. Muzarabani’s recent standout performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where he was Zimbabwe’s top wicket-taker with 13 scalps, highlights his form.
Having excelled in the Sri Lanka leg of the tournament, Muzarabani’s match-winning displays against Australia and Sri Lanka underscore his impact. The tall fast bowler, previously part of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League 2026, opted for the IPL opportunity over the PSL.
His familiarity with subcontinental conditions and current form make him a valuable asset for KKR, the three-time IPL champions. Notably, Muzarabani was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad last season, despite not featuring in any matches.
In a related development, KKR released Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad following directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This decision, influenced by controversies and objections surrounding Rahman’s participation, was prompted by reported violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Rahman, who attracted attention for his record Rs 9.20 crore acquisition by KKR, has a history of 65 wickets in 60 matches since his IPL debut in 2016. The 30-year-old has represented various franchises, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings.
