Kolkata Police have detained Subrata Dutta in connection with an email threatening Governor C.V. Ananda Bose. The 68-year-old man was identified as the suspect, although it is not confirmed if he sent the threatening email. The email, received by Raj Bhavan officials, warned of the Governor being “blown up.”
Officials at Raj Bhavan took the threat seriously, leading to an immediate review of the Governor’s security measures. An investigation was launched to trace the email’s source and motive. Subrata was detained by officers from Hare Street police station following this investigation.
A case has been initiated against Subrata Dutta Roy for the bomb threat to the Governor. Kolkata Police confirmed the detention of the accused and stated that the investigation is ongoing. Security measures at Raj Bhavan were reinforced, with Kolkata Police and CRPF collaborating to ensure the Governor’s safety.
Despite Governor Bose having ‘Z-plus’ category security, the threat prompted heightened security measures. Threats to the Governor are not uncommon, with previous instances of similar threats. Top officials convened an emergency security meeting to address the situation.
