Jaipur, Aug 19 (IANS) Acting on the directions of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters, the anti-graft body’s Udaipur unit conducted a trap operation on Wednesday and arrested Manohar Lal, an employee of the Agricultural Produce Market (Krishi Upaj Mandi) office in Udaipur’s Savina, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 24,000 in cash from the complainant.
ACB Director General Govind Gupta said that the complainant had submitted a complaint at the ACB office in Udaipur.
The complainant operates a flour mill in Kaladwas at Udaipur and legally purchases wheat through the Agricultural Produce Market in Savina and from other traders.
According to the complaint, since March 2026, the accused, Manohar Lal, had allegedly been stopping tractors carrying wheat belonging to traders associated with the complainant.
On the pretext of conducting inspections, the accused allegedly pressured the traders to produce bills immediately and issued challans when the bills were not presented.
The complainant said that this was adversely affecting his business.
When the complainant discussed the matter with the accused, the latter allegedly demanded a monthly bribe on behalf of Madan Gurjar, the then Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market at Savina.
In return, the accused allegedly assured the complainant that the tractors of traders dealing with him would not be inspected, challans would not be issued, and penalties would not be imposed under the Rajasthan Agricultural Produce Market Rules for failure to produce bills for purchased wheat.
The complainant also alleged that the accused had previously demanded and received a bribe of Rs 65,000 for the period from April 2025 to March 2026.
Subsequently, a bribe was allegedly demanded again for the four-month period from April 2026 to July 2026.
During verification of the complaint, the alleged demand for a bribe by Manohar Lal was confirmed.
Following verification, the ACB conducted a trap operation on Wednesday under the supervision of Rameshwar Singh, ACB DIG (Udaipur Range), and the direction of Anant Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police.
Police Inspector Ram Sumer Meena and the trap team arrested the accused, Manohar Lal, red-handed while he was allegedly accepting a cash bribe of Rs 24,000 from the complainant.
Questioning of the accused and further proceedings are underway under the supervision of ACB Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S. Parimala.
The ACB will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and conduct further investigation.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau appeals to the public to support the campaign against corruption.
