KTM Factory Racing has announced the signing of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio on multi-year contracts for the 2027 MotoGP season. This move underscores KTM’s commitment to building a competitive rider lineup for the future. Marquez, aged 30, will be departing from Gresini Racing after four seasons to join the factory team, marking his return to a factory setup since his debut season with Honda Racing Corporation in 2020. Notably, Marquez secured second place in the 2025 MotoGP championship, reestablishing himself as a prominent figure in the sport.
KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer expressed confidence in Marquez’s abilities, citing his talent, racing acumen, determination, and winning mindset as qualities that resonate well with the Austrian brand. Beirer emphasized that Marquez’s attributes align closely with KTM’s core values. Meanwhile, Di Giannantonio, aged 27, will make the switch to KTM after concluding his tenure with the VR46 Racing Team at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Having joined VR46 in 2024, Di Giannantonio currently holds the third position in the MotoGP Championship standings and recently clinched his second Grand Prix victory in Barcelona earlier this season.
Beirer commended Di Giannantonio’s progress, noting his evolution into a formidable contender in the MotoGP landscape. The KTM Motorsports Director highlighted Di Giannantonio’s consistency and development as key factors that have propelled him to the forefront of the championship. With the signings of Marquez and Di Giannantonio, KTM has bolstered its roster with two seasoned race winners who are entering their prime, aiming to enhance its competitive prospects in MotoGP from the upcoming 2027 season.
