The late actors Dharmendra and Satish Shah will be posthumously honored with Padma awards. Dharmendra is set to receive the Padma Vibhushan, while Satish Shah will be recognized with the Padma Shri. Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty will also be conferred with the Padma Bhushan. Additionally, veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik and the late advertising legend Piyush Pandey have been selected for the Padma Bhushan.

Both Dharmendra and Satish Shah passed away last year. Dharmendra, born in Punjab in 1935, entered the film industry in the early 1960s after winning a talent competition in 1958. Known for his striking looks and natural charm, he became one of Bollywood’s enduring stars. Satish Shah, a beloved character actor in Indian cinema and television, was renowned for his impeccable comic timing and expressive versatility. He gained fame through iconic TV shows like ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ and ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’.

Alka Yagnik, a prominent playback singer, started her career as a child artist and rose to fame in the early 1990s. She has received multiple Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and has sung in various Indian languages. Her voice became synonymous with leading actresses of her time, and she continues to garner high global streaming numbers on music platforms.
