The late music composer O. P. Nayyar, known for his work in ‘Mercy,’ had a unique musical journey. Despite never receiving formal music training, Nayyar’s innate talent for music was evident. Born in Lahore, he migrated to India post the Partition. Nayyar’s father, a pharmacist, initially aimed for him to pursue medical science, but music was his true calling.

Niharica Raizada, Nayyar’s grand-daughter, shed light on his early life. Nayyar’s father, a strict man, intended for his sons to focus on academics. While Nayyar’s brothers pursued law and accountancy, his musical prowess set him apart. Despite a brief stint at a music class in Lahore, Nayyar found the teaching methods too aggressive for his liking.

In the film ‘Mercy,’ Niharica Raizada portrayed the character of Jiya, the wife of the protagonist Shekhar. The movie delves into the intricate dynamics of a family dealing with the challenging subject of passive euthanasia. Raizada expressed her deep connection to the project, highlighting the personal growth it brought her as an actor. She believes the film’s narrative will resonate with viewers, leaving a profound impact.

Raizada praised the collaborative spirit on the film set, emphasizing the support and camaraderie among the cast and crew. Working alongside talented actors like Raj Vasudeva and Adil Hussain enriched her performance. Raizada’s experience in ‘Mercy’ was marked by a sense of fulfillment and artistic growth, attributing much of it to the cohesive team effort that shines through in the final product.
