A 22-year-old law student named Amrutha, who worked at a diagnostic center and a pizza outlet, was fatally stabbed by the brother of her former boyfriend in Bengaluru’s Kodihalli area. The incident occurred on July 13 near her residence off HAL Road, leading to her demise on July 15 after two days of treatment. The victim had ended her relationship with the accused, Dhanush, due to his alleged concealment of his past marriage and child.
Amrutha and Dhanush, residents of the same locality, had been in a relationship for about four years and were known to each other’s families through a religious gathering. Following the breakup, Dhanush persistently pursued Amrutha despite her rejections, leading to the fatal confrontation. The accused, along with his younger brother, Surya, attacked Amrutha with a knife during an altercation, resulting in her collapse and subsequent hospitalization.
The police have arrested both Dhanush and Surya, registering a murder case in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and to verify the marital status of the accused. The tragic event has reignited concerns about the safety of women in Bengaluru, particularly in the context of failed relationships and associated crimes.
