Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh revealed plans for a new modern skywalk in Laxmi Nagar, aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and easing traffic congestion. This initiative, similar to the existing skywalk at ITO, is part of efforts to improve the busy intersection. The Minister made this announcement during the ‘Government on Wheels’ campaign, where he inspected ongoing development projects and anti-waterlogging measures in the area.
Recalling the past challenges faced by Laxmi Nagar, the Minister highlighted the area’s history of urban flooding, particularly after Minto Bridge. He emphasized the significant progress made in addressing waterlogging issues through strategic planning, inter-departmental coordination, and consistent monitoring. Singh noted that nearly 80-90% of Delhi’s waterlogging problems have already been resolved, with remaining critical areas undergoing permanent engineering solutions.
Singh commended the collaborative efforts of various departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), and Irrigation & Flood Control Department, in accelerating long-pending development projects. Accompanied by local MLAs and officials, the Minister inspected key infrastructure initiatives, engaged with residents, and assessed the progress of civic issue resolutions. He also acknowledged the vital role of MLAs in identifying community concerns and translating them into actionable projects.
