Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth has been appointed as the next Chief of the Army Staff, succeeding General Upendra Dwivedi, who will retire on June 30, 2026. Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, will assume his new role on the same day. He brings over four decades of experience in various military capacities, including commanding key operational units and contributing significantly to the Indian Army’s effectiveness and transformation.
