Hollywood actress Lisa Kudrow, known for her role as Phoebe Buffay, initially hesitated to switch from “Mad About You” to the new show “Friends” to safeguard her existing role. Despite her reservations, she eventually portrayed Phoebe for a decade on the hit sitcom. Kudrow expressed pride in her part on “Mad About You” and doubted the success of “Friends” when she first filmed its pilot.
After joining the cast of “Friends” alongside Jennifer Aniston and others in 1994, the network faced a challenge in explaining her dual roles on two prime-time shows. To address this, Kudrow’s character on “Mad About You,” Ursula Buffay, was cleverly integrated into “Friends” as Phoebe’s twin sister, Ursula. Kudrow found this development exciting as it allowed her to maintain her connection to both series.
Recently, Kudrow admitted to revisiting old episodes of “Friends” but felt too self-conscious to watch them with her husband. She confessed to enjoying the show before bedtime but preferred to do so discreetly. Despite her embarrassment, her husband is aware of her fondness for the sitcom and her late-night viewing habits.
