A local policeman, Constable Ashiq Hussain of IRP 3rd Battalion, was killed in a terrorist attack in Anantnag town, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, carried out by bike-borne terrorists, occurred while the policeman was on patrol duty in Anantnag town. Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident led to the cordoning off of the area, with police and security forces conducting thorough searches. The attack took place at Lal Chowk in Anantnag town, where the policeman was targeted by terrorists. This tragic event adds to the security concerns in the region, especially during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
Security forces have been actively engaged in anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley this year. Recent encounters, including the neutralization of a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in Shopian, highlight the ongoing efforts to combat militancy in the region. The joint operation involving the Army’s Victor Force, J&K Police, and CRPF successfully concluded after days of intense surveillance and gunfights.
