The Lok Sabha commenced its session by honoring the martyrs of the Kargil war, acknowledging their sacrifice for the nation. Parliamentarians paid their respects with a minute of silence in memory of the Kargil war heroes. Speaker Om Birla appealed to the members to uphold the decorum of the House and ensure the smooth functioning of the proceedings. Emphasizing the importance of the Question Hour, he highlighted its role in holding the government accountable on constituency-related issues. However, the chaos persisted despite the Speaker’s calls for cooperation.
Urging the Opposition to follow the rules, the Speaker expressed readiness for structured discussions on various matters but emphasized the need for proper proposals. Despite repeated pleas for order, the House continued to witness disorder and slogans, leading to the adjournment of the session till noon.
Speaker Om Birla informed the Lower House that this year, Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated on July 26, falls on a Sunday, hence the early tribute to the fallen soldiers.
