In a significant crackdown on organized exploitation, the Lucknow Police have apprehended Atika, believed to be the mastermind of a sophisticated ‘honey trap’ gang. The arrest stems from an investigation into the abduction and sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy, along with an extortion attempt.
The case unfolded when the victim’s mother, Asma Khan, reported the disappearance of her son, Ibrahim, a Class 9 student. Investigations revealed that Atika, known to the victim through an acquaintance, deceived the minor and took him to Nainital.
During the ordeal, Atika confiscated the boy’s phone, cut off communication with his family, and subjected him to repeated sexual assaults. She also took compromising photos and videos to use for extortion. Upon being rescued by the police, the victim disclosed Atika’s blackmail attempts.
Utilizing social media and burner phones, Atika demanded a hefty sum from the victim’s family, threatening to release the sensitive material if her demands were not met. She also tampered with the victim’s passport to misrepresent his age. The police have filed charges under various serious sections of the Indian Penal Code and related laws.
