Lucknow Super Giants’ captain Rishabh Pant expressed disappointment over his team’s loss to the Mumbai Indians in Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Despite a strong start, with a score of 90/1 in six overs, Lucknow Super Giants could not maintain their momentum.
Pant acknowledged that his team fell short by 10-15 runs from their expected total, attributing this to Mumbai Indians’ effective bowling and familiarity with the conditions. He emphasized the need for better performance in the upcoming matches to secure victories.
Nicholas Pooran’s quick half-century and Mitchell Marsh’s aggressive batting propelled Lucknow Super Giants to 90/1 by the end of the Power-play. However, a crucial over saw the dismissal of both key batsmen, leading to a middle-order collapse. Despite posting a challenging total of 228/5, it was insufficient to secure a win.
Mumbai Indians, led by strong batting performances from Rohit and Rickelton, successfully chased down the target, reaching 229/4 in 18.4 overs. Pant refrained from blaming his bowlers for the loss, acknowledging the competitive nature of the game and the need for collective effort to turn the team’s fortunes around.
Reflecting on Lucknow Super Giants’ sixth consecutive defeat, Pant remained optimistic, highlighting the importance of luck and increased effort to change the team’s current standing at the bottom of the IPL 2026 table.
