Lucknow Super Giants’ Director of Cricket, Tom Moody, acknowledged that captain Rishabh Pant has found the leadership role challenging, leading to the team’s poor performances. Moody hinted at a possible change in leadership before the next season following the team’s recent heavy defeat at their home ground, Ekana Cricket Stadium.
The defeat marked Lucknow Super Giants’ 10th loss of the season, resulting in a last-place finish on the points table and raising doubts about Pant’s future with the franchise. Pant, who has led the team in 28 games since last season, has faced defeat in 18 matches, with the team failing to qualify for the Playoffs in consecutive editions. Additionally, Pant’s struggles with the bat have been evident, managing only 312 runs this year at an average of 28.36.
Speaking at a press conference after the loss to Punjab Kings, Moody emphasized the need for reflection and potential changes within the team. He highlighted that the disappointing season’s outcome should not be attributed to one individual but rather seen as a collective failure across the entire setup. Moody stressed the importance of addressing the team’s shortcomings and making considered decisions for the future.
