Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed the state’s goal to become a national benchmark in the aviation industry, highlighting its role in enhancing regional connectivity and tourism. Yadav, during a review meeting of the Aviation Department, stressed that expanding air services would not only benefit passengers from remote areas but also boost tourism and benefit neighboring states. He emphasized the need for Madhya Pradesh to excel as a national model in the aviation sector.
Emphasizing infrastructure development, CM Yadav directed officials to prioritize the construction of helipads in emerging metropolitan areas and key industrial hubs. He urged the involvement of private players to expedite the expansion of heli-services, aiming to enhance last-mile connectivity to remote and economically significant regions. Yadav also oversaw the progress of the Ujjain airport project, ensuring timely completion of all ongoing works.
Furthermore, CM Yadav called for the operationalization of the ‘PM Shri Heli Tourism Service’ to promote religious and heritage tourism across the state. He highlighted the employment opportunities in the aviation sector and urged higher education institutions to offer aviation-related courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework. Yadav stressed the importance of preparing Madhya Pradesh’s youth for employment-oriented aviation courses to meet the increasing demand for trained personnel in the industry.
Reviewing policy outcomes, Chief Minister Yadav acknowledged the positive results of the ‘Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy, 2025’, implemented last year. He emphasized the need to expand air connectivity to key religious destinations like Varanasi and Patna to further boost tourism. Financial support is being provided to airlines to enhance connectivity in under-served regions, with around 24,000 passengers utilizing air services from Rewa in the past six months. Flights connecting Rewa with Delhi, Raipur, and Indore have shown occupancy rates between 70 and 85 percent, indicating a rising demand for regional air travel.
