In a move to boost overall development and women empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet sanctioned public interest schemes worth Rs 5,960 crore. The approval includes extending the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana and Kalyani Vivah Sahayata Yojana for the next five years, starting April 1, 2026, with an allocation of Rs 1,740.57 crore. These schemes provide financial aid for the mass marriage of daughters and widows from poor families.
The Cabinet also greenlighted a plan to upgrade 225 government secondary schools to high schools and 300 high schools to higher secondary schools over the next three years. This initiative, costing Rs 635.24 crore, aims to enhance educational access and quality, particularly in underserved areas, to improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio and reduce dropout rates. Notably, schools in the catchment areas of Sandipani Vidyalayas will not undergo this upgradation.
Furthermore, the Cabinet revised terms for the zero per cent interest short-term crop loan scheme to offer more relief to farmers. It also approved the establishment of a new Government Law College in Shujalpur, Shajapur district, to bolster legal education in the state. These decisions underscore the government’s focus on women’s welfare, education enhancement, and agricultural support, aligning with the vision of a developed Madhya Pradesh by 2047.
