Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared that he attended the 136th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” program at Kanchana Ghat in Orchha, Niwari district. The Prime Minister highlighted the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign’s transformation into a people’s movement, the successful launch of Vikram-1 advancing India’s space achievements, and the inspiring performances of Indian athletes. Chief Minister Yadav mentioned the state’s efforts under the ‘Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan’ inspired by the PM’s initiative.

Inspired by the PM’s words, Madhya Pradesh has actively participated in the ‘Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan’ for three consecutive years. Chief Minister Yadav expressed optimism about the positive impact of these endeavors on the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign initiated on July 4. Prime Minister Modi specifically commended Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh for its exceptional work in water conservation through community involvement. Under Chief Minister Yadav’s guidance, Sidhi has implemented extensive measures linking water conservation with development and livelihoods.

Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh has seen the construction of 1,489 farm ponds under the campaign, significantly enhancing rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and irrigation capabilities. The district’s water storage capacity has increased by 4,482,612 cubic meters, allowing for irrigation of additional land and meeting the water needs of nearly one lakh people. Water conservation in Sidhi has also become a source of livelihood, with fish farming and water chestnut cultivation benefiting various groups and individual farmers economically.
