Madhya Pradesh is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring well above normal levels. The state has issued heatwave alerts for 37 districts as temperatures reach alarming highs. Western regions saw temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius, while the east recorded even higher temperatures ranging from 43 to 45 degrees Celsius.
The town of Khajuraho registered the highest temperature at 47.4 degrees Celsius, causing concern among authorities and residents. Heatwave conditions have been officially declared in several areas including Satna, Khajuraho, Mandla, Nougong, and Damoh. The India Meteorological Department in Bhopal has warned that most parts of the state will face temperatures between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius, with severe heatwave conditions expected to persist.
Health risks are heightened due to the intense heat, with the heat index remaining high. Meteorologists attribute the extreme conditions to a prolonged dry spell and the absence of any weather system that could provide relief in the near future. Authorities have issued detailed advisories urging people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, wear light-colored clothing, and take precautions during peak heat hours.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely and take necessary measures to ensure their well-being during this intense summer period.
