The Madhya Pradesh government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, is organizing a week-long program from April 8 to April 14 to commemorate B. R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced this initiative during a Council of Ministers meeting, emphasizing the importance of social harmony and grassroots mobilization.
The state-level event will take place in Bhind, with ministers-in-charge overseeing district-specific planning and monitoring. This initiative aims to go beyond mere commemoration, focusing on governance outreach and locally relevant programs designed by district administrations. Detailed schedules for these programs at district and block levels are currently being finalized.
In another development, the Madhya Pradesh government is constructing an ‘Ambedkar Dham’ in Gwalior, dedicated to B. R. Ambedkar. This memorial project, receiving Rs 20 crore in funding, includes facilities like a digital library, museum, auditorium, and conference hall. Notably, this will be the second memorial of Ambedkar in the state, with the first one located at his birthplace in Mhow, Indore.
The government’s long-term social agenda includes statewide social harmony programs until March 31, 2027, coinciding with the birth anniversary year of Sant Ravidas. These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to integrating commemorative events with ongoing social messaging on inclusion and harmony.
