The Madhya Pradesh government has directed divisional commissioners to oversee the registration of “Holika Dahan” events. They are instructed to gather phone numbers, organization details, and lists of office bearers for these events. Additionally, the government is encouraging the use of cow dung sticks and patties instead of traditional wood to reduce deforestation and promote sustainability.
The order emphasizes eco-friendly celebrations for the upcoming Holi festival, advocating for the use of cow dung-based materials during Holika Dahan. State-level ceremonies will be conducted to honor organizations and leaders for their environmental conservation efforts. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will present commendation certificates at these ceremonies.
To ensure clean and healthy Holi practices, divisional commissioners and district collectors are tasked with promoting public participation. They will compile lists of eco-friendly initiatives and offer incentives to these groups. The government stresses the importance of unity and joy while minimizing environmental impact during the festivities.
Promoting the use of cow dung-based materials, the government has outlined a detailed plan. It includes free registration of public Holika Dahan events at various levels, with an emphasis on using goukasht. Organizers’ information will be collected during registration, and field staff will encourage the use of goukasht over firewood during the events.
District officials will certify compliance within a few days post-event, aligning with the “Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh” campaign for local awareness. Divisional commissioners will ensure compliance, while collectors will oversee the success of the “Swachh aur Swasth Holi” initiative statewide. Relevant departments have been notified for coordinated action.
