Madhya Pradesh’s Suraj Sharma achieved a remarkable feat by winning both the Senior and Junior men’s national titles in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions in New Delhi. In the Junior final, Suraj secured the gold medal with 30 hits, followed by another stellar performance in the Senior final where he claimed his second title with 31 hits.
Suraj displayed dominance in the Senior final, hitting 19 of his first 20 targets and ultimately finishing with 31 hits, three ahead of the silver medalist, Vijayveer Sidhu from Punjab. The bronze went to Bhavesh Shekhawat from Rajasthan with a total of 24 hits. Ankur Goel secured the fourth position with 14 hits after engaging in three shoot-offs against Mukesh Nelavalli from Andhra Pradesh, who finished fifth with 12 hits. Adarsh Singh from Haryana concluded the final in sixth place with five hits.
In the qualification round, Ankur Goel led the standings with a score of 582-20x, followed closely by Vijayveer Sidhu with 580-18x and Adarsh Singh with 579-22x. Suraj Sharma qualified fifth with 579-12x, while Bhavesh Shekhawat completed the top six with 577-22x.
Moving to the RFP junior men’s final, Suraj Sharma secured the gold medal with 30 hits, followed by Mukesh Nelavalli with the silver (25 hits) and Haryana’s Jatin with the bronze (22 hits after a shoot-off). The Senior team category saw Punjab clinching gold, Haryana taking silver, and the Navy securing bronze.
The competition will continue on December 27, 2025, at the MP State Shooting Academy in Bhopal, featuring the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women finals starting at 9:00 AM.
