Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the fuel shortages in rural parts of the state, attributing them to a sudden surge in petrol and diesel demand of 20 to 30 percent. He cautioned against hoarding and black-marketing of fuel meant for agricultural needs. Fadnavis instructed district collectors and commissioners to ensure uninterrupted diesel supply for upcoming crop operations to support farmers.

To tackle the supply disruptions, district collectors have started a rationing protocol, verifying vehicle documents before providing bulk diesel. Fadnavis hinted at streamlining this process in other affected regions to combat hoarding practices. The surge in fuel demand was triggered by international supply chain concerns related to the West Asia energy crisis, leading to temporary shortages at rural petrol pumps.

Maharashtra Food and Civil Supply Minister Chhagan Bhujbal reassured the public of sufficient petrol and diesel supplies, urging against panic buying. He emphasized that the government is capable of maintaining a steady fuel supply and discouraged stockpiling based on rumors. Bhujbal presented sales data to demonstrate functional supply chains and urged citizens to cooperate by purchasing fuel as needed.

Chief Minister Fadnavis, arriving in Shirdi for an event, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in modernizing rail infrastructure. He commended the Vande Bharat Express and highlighted Shirdi’s growing role as an economic hub in the region. Fadnavis emphasized the integration of strength and devotion in establishing lasting peace, noting Shirdi’s progress as a symbol of resilience.
