Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate alleged irregularities in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled for Sunday. The SIT, led by Thane Joint Commissioner of Police Panjabrao Ugale, a seasoned IPS officer, will delve into the suspected malpractices.
The newly established SIT, headed by Joint CP Ugale, aims to uncover the network involved in the TET irregularities. The investigation will focus on identifying key players, middlemen, and internal officials linked to result tampering, tracking financial transactions for certificates, and analyzing past exam data for malpractice patterns.
Following the abrupt postponement of the Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 by the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE), concerns over fairness and transparency have escalated. The delay, prompted by a question paper leak discovered during a police raid, has affected over 428,122 candidates and stirred public outcry.
Chief Minister Fadnavis, in response to the exam postponement, held discussions with Education Minister Dada Bhuse and DGP Sadanand Date to address the irregularities. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards malpractice, Fadnavis urged strict legal action against wrongdoers to safeguard the integrity of the educational recruitment system.
