The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office in Maharashtra is conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program for electoral rolls. As part of this initiative, voters on the current list must complete an enumeration form and submit it to their Booth Level Officer (BLO) by August 8, 2026. It is emphasized that registering at multiple locations is strictly prohibited under Sections 17 and 18 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
Voters registered in more than one place are instructed to submit the enumeration form only at their present address. Those listed at secondary locations will be marked as “Already Enrolled” on the forms, and their names will not be added at those places. Upon completing and signing the enumeration form, voters will be included in the draft electoral roll set for release on August 17, 2026. The draft will be accessible at the Voter Registration Officer’s office and the official websites of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer.
Eligible voters not listed in the draft roll and new voters can seek inclusion using Form 6 with the necessary documents from August 17, 2026, to September 16, 2026. After verification by the Voter Registration Officer, eligible names will be added to the final electoral roll. During the Claims and Objections period, which spans a month, Form 6 allows new registrations, Form 8 enables corrections, and Form 7 permits deletion requests.
The CEO’s office cautioned against providing false information related to electoral roll matters, as it is an offense punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. The Final Electoral Roll is slated for official publication on October 19, 2026. Even after this release, corrections or inclusions can be made in accordance with Sections 22 and 23 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. Citizens can apply using Form No. 6 for name inclusion post the final list publication.
Electoral roll revision is an ongoing process, allowing updates until the last date for filing nominations for any election, as per Section 23(3). All citizens are urged to be aware of this update notice.
