Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed deep concern over the recent Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak, labeling it as a highly disturbing incident. He announced the government’s intention to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the main culprits and key suspects involved in the scandal. Shinde emphasized a “zero tolerance” stance towards corruption within the state administration, highlighting that the paper leak has evolved into a severe organized crime issue.
The Deputy CM assured a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter, ensuring that all individuals, irrespective of their status or affiliations, would face consequences. He praised the Maharashtra Police for their prompt actions in preventing potential harm to the futures of numerous hardworking exam candidates. Shinde also pledged to reschedule the TET exam promptly to alleviate concerns among the affected student community.
The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) postponed the TET 2026, scheduled for June 28, 2026, following a significant question paper leak uncovered by the Bhiwandi police. This decision, affecting over 428,122 candidates, aimed to uphold fairness and transparency in the examination process. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with concerns raised over the integrity of the examination system in the state.
