Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, Rahul Narwekar, has directed the state government to address the shortage of medical equipment in Sangamner, Ahilyanagar district. Specifically, there is a severe lack of MRI and CT scan machines in the region, causing common citizens to travel long distances for basic diagnostic tests. Speaker Narwekar expressed disappointment over the delay in resolving these critical public health infrastructure gaps.
Members of the Assembly raised concerns about the challenges faced by citizens due to the unavailability of essential medical diagnostic facilities in government-run centers. Despite previous awareness of the issue, a concrete solution or data on the deficiency had not been presented. Speaker Narwekar emphasized the need for immediate action in Sangamner and demanded data on the total number of lacking MRI and CT scan machines statewide.
In a stern warning to the bureaucracy, Speaker Narwekar stressed the importance of following directives from the Chair. He highlighted that failure to comply with the instructions could lead to strict actions. The government is expected to provide detailed information on the shortage of MRI and CT scan machines in Sangamner and across the state before the session concludes, failing which could result in Breach of Privilege proceedings.
